Meet Our Teachers
Miss Michaela owns and runs MDM. Michaela started dancing at the age of twelve and hasn’t stopped since! She has trained in all styles of dance and gymnastics, and she loves to help kids grow their passion for dance and the performing arts. Michaela was a member of the Phoenix Suns dance line, and she was a professional dancer in several different shows including Oklahoma and American Superstars. She was also a lead dancer in several impersonator shows in Las Vegas including Madonna, Blues Brothers, Elvis and Neil Diamond. She is a Cecchetti certified ballet instructor and has also trained in bikram yoga.
Miss Shannon started dancing when she was only five years old, and she has loved every minute of it. Shannon specializes in jazz, lyrical, and contemporary, but she has studied it all! She has trained in both Cecchetti and Russian ballet as well as in Pilates. Shannon became a certified health and wellness coach in 2017 after completing her studies at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. Shannon’s nationally ranked, award winning routines and choreography can be found online.
Miss Katelyn learned to tap when she was eight years old, and the moment she did, she was hooked! She has studied under several different tap instructors and has performed with Tap 24/7 in the shows Tap my Soul, The Great Tap X-Cape, and Unlocking the TAPestry. Katelyn loves tapping, and although she has trained in all styles of dance, tap is her absolute favorite!
Miss Bailey began dancing when she was incredibly young and has studied jazz, tap, ballet, hip-hop, lyrical, contemporary, and pom extensively. She has coached both pom and cheer, and been a member of award winning pom teams. Most recently Miss Bailey has been studying dance with Verve Dance Company - the GCC performance dance program - and will be graduating with a degree in fine arts with a focus on dance. Miss Bailey is fun and loves to help kids of all ages by growing their love for dance.
Mr. Scott graduated with honors from Indiana University with a B.A. in Ballet. HE has spent 17 years performing with and working in professional ballet companies in Tehran, Iran; San Antonio, Texas; Sacramento, California and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He danced with Ballet Arizona for eight years, and he directed the School of Ballet Arizona. He holds a Masters Degree in Somatic Psychology and Education from Antioch University. He has taught collegiate and professional dancers for thirty years. He is a certified advanced Rolfer (TM) and has practiced structural integration for over 30 years.
Miss Kenzie is our resident hip-hop master. Kenzie has been a competitive dancer in all genres since the age of 10, and has studied everything from ballet to contemporary to hip-hop. Most recently she has been a member of Elektrolytes Dance Crew. So far in her time with the Elektrolytes, they have taken first place at the HHI USA championship in 2018 as well as at the WOD Finals USA championship in 2019. Not only has Miss Kenzie’s love of dance has grown in her time with Elektrolyes Dance Crew, her skills and knowledge in the arts of breaking and hip-hop have expanded exponentially, as well. Kenzie emphasizes the importance of technique in her classes, but she absolutely knows the value of groove!
